Our Story

Hello! We are Jason and Addison. We’re so happy you found us, and thank you in advance for taking the time to get to know us. We are extremely excited about what the future holds!

Our story began almost ten years ago, but we made it official on 7/7/17 at the top of a mountain in an open air chapel in South Carolina. This particular chapel was one that Addison’s family visited multiple times during her childhood and the only place she ever envisioned getting married. It was an intimate ceremony with just close friends and family and it was everything we could have hoped...

Jason (written by Addison)

Jason is the dreamer and optimist in our relationship. He truly believes he will catch a foul ball when we go to a baseball game. When he gets scratch-offs in his stocking at Christmas, he is convinced he only has winners. And when he meets someone new, he is the first to welcome them and make them feel at ease.

Jason grew up with a love for baseball. He played baseball from age five until his early twenties in single-A ball (minor leagues), and it helped shape the man he is today. After his playing days, Jason became a high school baseball coach and ultimately a head baseball...

Addison (written by Jason)

Addison is practical, resourceful, intelligent, and loving. In terms of practicality and financial planning, she looks long-term at our financial goals, creates savings accounts, and puts money aside each month to prepare us for vacations, home insurance, Christmas, and, most importantly, adoption.

Regarding resourcefulness, she is single-handedly the family's handywoman. She has fixed plumbing issues (kitchen sink), irrigation (yard sprinklers and gutters), and landscaping (laying sod and cultivating shrubbery). Instead of paying someone to do the work, she would rather learn...

Our Home

Our home is our oasis which we bought back in 2015 with the vision and idea of having enough room to grow into. We've already built the nursery in our home in joyful anticipation. We catch each other opening the nursery door from time to time, just dreaming and envisioning the day a baby will be smiling back at us.

We live in a quiet, one-road cul-de-sac where we have gotten to know many of our neighbors. We enjoy spending most of our time outside and take pride in keeping our yard well-manicured. Growing up, Addison vividly remembers taking first-day-of-school photos in her...

Our Family

Our family is at the core of who we are. One of Addison's favorite memories from the wedding reception was when one of Jason's aunts requested the DJ to play "We Are Family" and proceeded to pull both families onto the dance floor. Addison is fully part of and accepted into Jason's family, and Jason is fully part of and accepted into Addison's family, and we would not want it any other way.

Since Jason's family lives up north, we make it a point to spend every other Christmas with them. Addison created a blog where she writes different posts and updates surrounding the adoption...

Traditions

One of our favorite traditions is hosting Thanksgiving. We invite the whole family over to our house, and Jason fries the turkey! Addison's dad bakes a ham, her mom bakes green bean casserole, her brother bakes homemade cookies, and Jason's friends bring over appetites and entertainment. We take pride in hosting Thanksgiving and love being surrounded by family and friends.

Since Jason is from Japan, another tradition that we have started is celebrating Asian Pacific Islander Month in May. Last year, Addison made a sign for Jason written in Japanese and cut out and hung paper...

Hobbies & Interests

Team sports played a large role in both our lives growing up. We met our best man and maid of honor while playing sports. Although we do not compete competitively anymore, we still enjoy taking part in many sports and outdoor activities. We are an active family and would like to provide a child with the same opportunities to take part in organized sports and or adventures outdoors.

Music is another hobby/ interest we share. Jason enjoys playing the guitar while Addison dabbles at the piano. Having accessibility to explore different musical instruments is something that we think...

Closing/Thank You

Our promise to you and your baby is that they'll always know they are unconditionally loved. This child will be "smothered with love." We promise to provide a safe place for your child to learn, grow, be loved and celebrated.

We promise to be positive examples, consistently present, and your kid's biggest supporters.

Although this book was about "us," we hope you were able to take away our intentions of it truly being about the baby. We want you to know that we respect your decision, even if that means your selection of another family, because, at the end of the day,...
